Blake & Faith - Block 1 (2025-26): Final

Welcome back to the final installment of the 2025 IHS Block 1 experience. Blake mentioned in our last blog post that we were getting ready to go to the Dubois Rodeo that night. It did not disappoint! We got to see toddlers, up to adults, riding cows, horses, and sheep! Our collective favorite event was the calf scramble, where the kids in the crowd lined up and two calves were set loose for them to wrangle.

Exploring the Tetons … Again

The next day after the rodeo, we went hiking in the Tetons for a second time with a Tennessee student named Sammie. The specific hike we did was the Jenny lake loop, which was 7.5 miles total. Yes, you felt all of that 7.5 mile hike, it took like 4 hours but was totally worth it! We saw THREE bears and a moose on the trail! Two of the bears we saw were literally less than 10 yards away from us. It was terrifying yet awesome all at the same time. That being said, bring bear spray! You never know what you’ll see and how close you will be to wildlife. There is a can of bear spray that is unexpired at the house next to all of the past students’ local reviews and suggestions of things to do. That being said, don’t worry about buying any for yourself unless you just want to drop $50 on bear spray.

After the 7.5 mile hike, we drove 30 minutes into Jackson Hole to eat and shop for souvenirs. We ended up eating at the Roadhouse Pub and Eatery, and it was amazing! Sammie has the bison burger and said it was wonderful. I had the baked chicken and mac and cheese, which was wonderful as well! If you’re looking for a souvenir shop in Jackson that won’t break the bank, go to Lee’s Tees or Shirt Off My Back. There are some other shops there that are way overpriced.

Fourth Week of Rotation

During our second-to-last week of rotation, we went to the Arapahoe clinic and had the opportunity to shadow providers and do some work in the pharmacy. Hailee is the preceptor there, and she is so nice! All of the providers are super friendly and accepting of students as well. The providers were all very accepting of recommendations and made sure to ask lots of drug information questions. Also, the gym at Arapahoe (all the Wind River Cares gyms are free for students/employees) has a super fancy body scan machine that tells you all kinds of stuff like your water weight, lean mass, and lots of other stuff!!

Yellowstone

Yes, it's finally time! After finishing up our fourth week of rotation, we finally went to Yellowstone and y'all.. it definitely lives up to the hype! It was so incredibly beautiful and there was soooo much amazing stuff to see! We hit all the big spots (Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Mammoth Hot Springs, Norris Geyser Basin, etc.), saw lots of animals, and took tons of pictures! This was absolutely, without a doubt, the best part of the entire rotation experience.

Last Week of Rotation

Our last week of rotation was very relaxed since we had already finished our projects. We were able to present one of our projects to a provider, and we were able to shadow another provider on our last day. We squared things away with our preceptor on the last day, and just like that, we were on our way.

We've had such a nice time (like seriously, the best time ever), but we're both ready to get back home... even though we know we're going to miss being here.
