Bailey & Maddie: Block 9 2025 Week 1

Week 1

Hey y'all! Our names are Bailey Deas and Maddie Northington, and we are excited to share our adventures for our block 9 (March 24-April 25, 2025) APPE rotation in Wyoming! We encourage you to check out our Instagram (@doseofwyoming) for more pictures and fun!

Saturday

  • Flight to Salt Lake City

    • $435.95/person round trip

    • Birmingham → Dallas Love Field → Salt Lake City

  • Southwest Airlines

    • Southwest offers free checked baggage; however, they will start charging for them in May 2025. RIP ðŸŠĶ

  • Spent the night in SLC at Hilton Garden Inn - Salt Lake City Airport

    • This was a great option, because they offer a 24/7 airport shuttle service.

    • $100.40/night

Sunday

  • Picked up rental car (4WD, SUV)

    • $1,456.45 for 33 days

    • We booked through Costco because of the free additional driver and better pricing.

  • Coffee and breakfast at Roots Coffee & Co.

  • Target run

    • There are plenty of sheets, blankets, pillows, and towels at the house. If you don’t want to use those or travel with your own, you can get a sheet set and blanket from Target for $25 total.

  • Stopped at Gannett Grill/Lander Bar for lunch on the way into town

  • Safeway run

    • Get a Safeway membership either through the app or in-store.

      • It saves so much on groceries and you get gas points! We made our grocery list by looking at what is on sale and clipping coupons.

Monday

  • At Ethete clinic this week

  • Dinner with Tennessee student at The Oxbow

    • We both got the Parmesan Chicken and had leftovers for dinner Tuesday!

Tuesday

  • Visited Sacajawea’s grave

Wednesday

  • Ethete Texas Pretzel for lunch

    • HUGE! Even after splitting, we had leftovers. Be sure to get the cheese with it and ask for butter and salt.

Thursday

  • Hiking at Sinks Canyon State Park

    • Started on the North Slope Trail, but then we turned back because it started to get dark.

  • Watched March Madness 🏀

Friday

  • Surprise! We got off rotation at lunchtime and went to the shops in downtown Lander.

    • Wind River Outpost

      • We cannot send packages to the house, but the Wind River Outpost is a UPS Access Point that you can ship packages to.

    • Other shops we went to: 23 Squared, Palace Pharmacy, Alchemy, Hello to the House, and some thrift/consignment stores!

  • Sinks Coffee – We met the owner, and he was really nice!

    • We each got the specialty rosemary and brown sugar latte. We were skeptical of the flavor pairing at first, but it ended up tasting great!

  • Watched March Madness and Auburn advance to the Elite Eight 🏀
