Block 7: Week 2
Our week started on Tuesday!
Me and one of the UT students went into Lander to go to Ace Hardware, I had to ship something. We ate dinner at the "Thai Kitchen" and this place was interesting. We think the food was made in a microwave, but the food was honestly not terrible. There was only one worker in the entire restaurant though. She seated people, took orders, and cooked. Very interesting.
Wednesday we had rotation, and then went to Riverton to take a yoga class! It was a booty class, and it was Native American Yoga. So cool to experience this, and learn about the culture. The class was at 6:30pm, and if you have any question you can ask Leslie (the tech at the Ethete clinc) and she will tell you all about it!!
Thursday, we had rotation and then we went in Lander again for a pottery making class. This class was from 5-7, and we had an instructor that taught us everything. It was $15. She wanted us to come back to finish the pottery, but we ended up not because we would have to pay $15 everytime. After the pottery class we went to a place called Liquid Courage for dinner. This place is awesome!!! Amazing food, and great atmosphere.
Friday, we had a half-day because we entered into the Chili cook-off at the Blue Sky Hall right next door to the clinic. Morgan cooked her moms chili recipe, and I made croutons for the Chili. We got FIRST PLACE!! Everyone loved our chili, and asked Morgan for the recipe after. We won a pressure cooker. Such a cool experience to be able to try everyones chili within the reservation. After the cookoff we went back to Sinks Canyon because Morgan had not seen it yet!
Saturday, we went Skiing!!! Pinedale, about 2.5 hours away from the house, was the closest place to ski. It was about $95 for everything; skis, helmet, and a lift ticket. It was pretty warm this day too, so I was sweating in my ski geer. They also offered ski lessons, and tubing! After skiing we went to eat dinner at the Wind River Brewing Co. This place was great too! I got the buffalo chicken sandwhich and it was amazing.
Sunday, we went to Thermopolis Hot Springs State Park. About 1.5 hours from the house! The drive alone was worth the entire trip. Absolutely beautiful. We then got to the hot springs, and went to the "spa." Here you can sit in the hot springs for 20 minutes for free. At the Teepee house next door you can also pay $15 for unlimited time in the 3 hot tubs that are outside, which is what we did! We got to see the sunset too, and it was stunning. For dinner we went to the "One Eyed Buffalo Brweing Co." very yummy!! Definitely get their Spinach and Artichoke dip. It is the best I have ever had.
- One tip: take a shower at the state part after you get out of the hot springs or else the sulfur from the hot springs will stay on you and be a lot harder to scrub off. I learned this the hard way:)
Hot Springs!
Another great week!!
